Matt managed the Twin Cities office of a small firm practicing in the areas of business and real estate litigation and transactions before joining the Litigation Practice group at Thomsen Nybeck, P.A. in 2003. While Matt's background allows him to assist clients with virtually all business law and real estate matters, he practices primarily in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Community Association Law, Construction Litigation, Creditors Remedies and Debtor/Creditor Law, Real Estate Litigation and Insurance Litigation, and he is the current head of the firm's Community Association Representation Group and co-head of its Construction Defect Litigation Group.

Matt's clients range from individuals, contractors and family-owned businesses, to local and national banks and corporations, as well as real property appraisers, real estate agents and brokerages. He also has been retained by title insurance companies in numerous mechanic's lien and mortgage foreclosures by action, as well as insurers of professionals for the purpose of providing errors and omissions defense.

Matt has represented his clients through workouts, negotiations and the resolution of disputes, as well as the various phases of litigation, including motions, mediations, arbitrations, trials and appeals. He has tried numerous cases to successful conclusions, before both judges and juries and in both the federal and state courts ofMinnesota , including bankruptcy proceedings, and he has successfully arbitrated matters before arbitrators from both the American Arbitration Association and Construction Arbitration Services. Matt's appellate experience includes arguing before the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Eighth Circuit and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as experience before the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Matt has been recognized by Minnesota Law and Politics, which has included him on its list of Rising Stars on multiple occasions, a distinction afforded to only 2.5% of Minnesota attorneys in any given year. Matt's credentials also include authoring articles for Minnesota Community Living and CIC Midwest News, presenting at seminars on topics that affect community associations and their managers and contributing to TN Legal Update, the Firm's blog, at http://tnupdate.wordpress.com/. Matt also has been quoted extensively in articles published on the national web-based publication http://hoaleader.com, which focuses on homeowners association and condominium board members and association management professionals (see Published Works below, available in the "Articles" section).
